Hard Work
This is the ballad of the black slave,
Who has been beaten and disgraced,
Who has been called nigger and treated as a thing,
Who has received no pay.
This is the ballad of the black slave,
Who prays for freedom every night,
For what he thinks is right.
Now this is the ballad of the freed slave,
who has seen much bloodshed
Who has fought for equal rights,
And who has one his freedom.
I am American
I am american
There is meaning in evry word.
I am full of inspiration
When you need me,
Just listen
And feel the spirit contain.
I may sooth you and comfort you
Or I may make you angry and enrage you.
No matter what happens , hold me tight
And drift into my culture of cultures
Abraham's Lincoln's Second Inaugural Address
no verbs
With malice towards none, with Charity for all, with firmness in the right as god gives us to see the right, let us on to the work we are in, to up the nations wounds, to for him who shall have the battle and for his widow and his orphan, to all which may and a just and lasting peace among ourselves and all nations.
My Earaser poem is martin luther king's "I Have a Dream" speach and i dont think i could re type the whole section i used. so my student choice poem was lincolns second inagural address, so i hope its okay if i use that earaser poem instead of my MLK no adjectives poem
The Politician
Feet stuck in the the muddy waters of society
Head still high
Throat chocked with the droning choruses of life
Voice still firm
Arms twisted, bend and broken
Determination still unmatched
Betrayed again again by destiny
Faith still unquestioned.
Mocked and criticized by sinners
Ambition still intact
So is the life of a politician
God's Hand
Death is not as as bad for those who leave
as it is for those who must stay and grieve.
When you are gone, remember this
You are the one entering bliss.
When God takes your hand
To leave this land
Your body becomes a grain of sand.
So as you grieve for he who's gone
Lie on the sand and sing him a song.
Spoiled
God's plan made a hopeful beginning
But man spoiled his chances by sinning
We hope that the story
Will end in great glory
But for now, the other side's wining
